Booking A Cruise Vacation

Tuesday, 31 March 2015 · Posted in ,

Cruises are the most versatile of vacations no matter what your age. Not only that, it's a great way to bring the whole family but still have time alone with your spouse while the kids-only activity coordinators take charge of your children's fun.

The first step to putting together a great cruise vacation is to find yourself a travel agency that specializes in cruises, or to book directly through a cruise vacation Internet site.

Before you contact the travel agent though you need to determine when you're going, where you're going and from which port you'll depart and to which you'll return.

There are some seasonal rules of thumb about your destination. If you're limited in the time of year you can get away then you're also somewhat limited in your destination. You can't, for instance, cruise the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska any time during the summer. Europe has about the same seasonal restriction as well. If you're planning on heading out in the spring or fall you might want to consider an excursion up and down the Panama Canal. Just about any time of year, including the winter, you can cruise to Asia or the Caribbean.

Determine who is going to go with you. Knowing if children or seniors will be a part of your vacation group will effect which trip offers the best choices of entertainment for your party. In fact, it's best to gather everyone together, or conduct a phone or e-mail discussion of what everyone wants to do. You need to know if crafts are important; how many are going to lounge by the pool; who wants to get off and explore at the first land stop; who prefers exotic locations and who'd rather just play shuffleboard.

The size of the ship can be important as well. Larger ships have a vast variety of entertainment options, such as dancing and stage shows, although smaller ships may provide a lower guest to staff ratio, and thus more personal attention to your needs.

Know how much you and the others can spend. If money is a critical factor look for discounts for booking early, or starting out on a different day or different week from your original request. Staying flexible can save you considerable money. Ask about port fees as well. These are not usually included in the quoted cruise cost and may cost you dearly. You'll also be expected to tip room stewards and wait staff.

If you're not going as a large group and you might be interested in getting to know your fellow passengers then be sure and inquire about the usual demographics of these travelers. If you're 20 something and it's a baby boomer cruise you're apt to be bored. If you bring your grade schoolers and most of the other kids are in their teens they won't have enough playmates and you'll be their entertainment for the extent of the cruise.

One very important inquiry to make of your travel agent as well is the formality of the cruise that you're considering. If you show up with a suitcase full of swimsuits, shorts and sunscreen only to find out formal dress is required at dinner you're going to be embarrassed or hungry the entire excursion.

Hit The Best Cruise Deals

Monday, 30 March 2015 · Posted in ,

The travel industry is one of the greatest assets of some continents for several years. They make use of their natural resources to attract visitors particularly cruisers. Traveling becomes one of their main sources of investment.

Actually, cruise liners have taken the travel industry by storm during the previous season for the past year. In fact, according to the statistics of the number of cruisers who visit the country, it ranges between 8 to 9 million passengers have enjoyed with the luxurious cruise liners. That is the record for the year 2005 alone.

Despite of the lavish and expensive worth of cruising many American people still want to engage themselves with the activity. The industry analysts arrive at a presumption that the numbers of passengers will double this year.

As early as now, the cruising companies start to think of the new itineraries and travel packages that they can offer the passengers for this year’s cruising activity. They need to make a change so that the passengers will feel new thrill and excitement.

The cruising lines also suffer from grave competitions. More than one cruising liner introduces the best purchasing options and competitive prices. They make it a point that they have their own style of gathering passengers. Since most of the passengers do not mind for the worth anymore, you can bring them a luxurious travel as long as they find the trip comfortable.

Reality shows that the perfect months for cruising fall on the month of January, February and March. This is considered as the “wave period” for the cruise lines. They prefer this type because it can boost the adventure of the trip. The big waves move the cruising ships. This makes their adrenaline rise.

Moreover, for the past year it was also on the months of January to March when they get the most loaded bookings. There was an increase of 35% also on their sales, which is almost half-additional profit that they have.

During the peak season, it is the right timing for you to avail the greatest deals bargained by the cruising lines. It is a natural tendency for the companies to compete for every passenger that can come along their way. This is also the season when they offer their hottest deals.

Each cruising line companies have their individual strategies. Some are giving incentives for the passengers, extra drink, blackberries and sometimes phones. This is specifically entitled for the specific packages.

Make sure that when you search for the cruising line, you have exerted more than enough time in deciding. This will help you find out the cruising line that can cater all your needs as a passenger. You can also browse newspapers and magazines and search on the traveling site the leading companies that air their advertisement of the most highlighted features they have such as special discounts. If you do not prefer reading in print ads, you can surf over the net.

Locate the website of these companies online. You can search all the information that you need on their sites. Majority of the largest cruising line companies provide for their own website.

Immediately after you find out your preferred cruising line, you can now make a call. Do not forget to mention your name, age and the state where you are residing. You can also open up to them whether you are going to travel alone or with a group.

It is also more helpful if you will tell them that you had your previous travel in their cruising line. Some companies give special grants to this kind of status. This is also included in their cruise deals.  All these factors can help you to avail bigger discounts.

There are times that it is more advantageous if you will have a direct contact with the agents. They know more about the do’s and don’ts that you need to consider. They are also more aware of the details in cruising line.

A reliable agent can provide you the best cruise that you look for. Considering the competition that also exists in getting clients, the agents work hard before they can get a great deal with the client.  They can offer you lesser costs for consultation fee than the actual quotes of the company.

Avail the best cruise deal!

Cruise Discounts - Six Ways To Value

Sunday, 29 March 2015 · Posted in ,

When planning any vacation, we all want to find the very best value possible.  This is no different when planning a cruise vacation.  Finding – and getting – cruise discounts is not that difficult.  Not all cruise discounts however will give you the best value.

What is important to you in a vacation cruise is not necessarily what is important to me or anyone else.  So the discount you get offered may be for a cruise, cruise line, or stateroom that doesn’t interest you.  Sure, the price is right but if you get full enjoyment, where is the value?  If you are flexible or if you simply want to ‘get-away-from-it-all’ then any discount will be a good one for you.

We have identified six different ways that cruise discounts are offered.  One is sure to be right for you.

Early Booking Discounts

This type of discount is available from most cruise lines and for most itineraries.  If you book before a certain date, the cruise line offers a special discount price for your vacation.  Now these discounts may not be the ‘best prices’ you can get but by booking early you will most often get the cruise you want, on the cruise ship you desire, and the itinerary of interest, in the stateroom or suite of your choice.  All of these items combined can make this type of vacation discount the very best value for your cruise.  You may say that if you wait, with the cruise ships being so large these days, you can get exactly what you want.  Be forewarned!  Cruises do sell out.

Last Minute Discounts

This is by far the riskiest discount to plan on.  If your preferred cruise sells out, you’re stuck without that cruise vacation.  If you would prefer a balcony stateroom, all that may be available at the time could be inside rooms.  However, having said all of that, these discounts can at times provide the very best pricing.  So if you are flexible in itinerary, cruise ship, vacation date, and stateroom preference, perhaps this is your best bet.

Group Booking Discounts

If you can generate some interest in your planned cruise vacation with others, you could qualify for a ‘group rate’.  Not all cruise lines would offer this – or any other – discount but it is certainly worth pursuing.  The rates again may not be as low as for a last minute cruise discount but you can get in early enough to ensure that you get the preferences listed above.

Low Season Discounts

Should your vacation schedule fall into one of the ‘low seasons’ for cruise vacations, you would be in luck.  In the Caribbean for example, the so-called ‘Hurricane season’ provides many great cruise rates for potential passengers.  Now I know that ‘summer season’ is a better name for it from a marketing standpoint but we may as well call it like it is.  Keep in mind that on a cruise, should a major storm happen, cruise ships can divert to calmer waters.  Today’s cruise ships can out-run storms as well.  If you were to be in a resort on a land-based vacation, you would have no choice but to flee or take cover.

Value Added Cruise Pricing

This type of ‘discount’ does not change the price of the cruise itself.  It does however give guests specials additions and ‘perks’.  One such added value could be stateroom upgrades – you pay for a certain category of stateroom and the cruise line automatically bumps you up into the next category.  Another common value-added feature is an on-board credit.  In this case, the cruise line adds a credit to your stateroom account that can be used while on your vacation.  Other perks can include free logo-wear or a bottle of wine in your stateroom.

Previous Cruisers Discounts

For first-time cruisers, this type of discount will be un-attainable.  But next cruise on the same cruise line, you may be offered many different specials that you may find attractive.  These could include free upgrades and on-board credits as detailed above.

Whether you take advantage of any of the possible discounts available for cruise vacations, one thing is certain.  A cruise aboard one of the magnificent cruise ships will be an experience to cherish!

A Day At Koh Larn

Visiting Koh Larn, or the coral island is a great change of pace from Pattaya.

My first trip to Koh Larn was a spur of the moment mini-adventure.  I was talking with a young lady in a bar and she asked me where I had visited in Thailand.  I rattled off a bunch of cities from north to south and then she asked if I had ever been to Koh Larn.  I told her no and she said she had never been either.

It was decided then and there that we would take the short trip the next day.  We spent the night together and made arrangements for the boat ride and tour at one of the many street vendor tour ladies.

We booked for a 10 AM boat ride and we were told we would be back at about 4 PM.  The price was a whopping 10 US dollars each and this included lunch.

We walked down from Second Road to Beach Road and met out small, longboat that would take us out to the bigger boat for the trip to Koh Larn.

But first, we stopped at a square dock and were offered a kite-flying ride for an additional ten dollars.  We declined but watched a couple of the others from our boat get the short round the dock ride.

We then boarded a bigger boat and chugged on out to the island.  The ride took about 45 minutes and we were met by another small, long boat to get us to shore.  This boat had a glass bottom to observe the coral, but the water was too murky to see anything.

We got ashore and since this was a spur of the moment trip, I bought my girl a swimsuit.  We staked out a patch of beach and got 2 lounge chairs for about one dollar for the day for both and just kicked back and relaxed.

The water was clean and refreshing and we just splashed about and lay around on the chairs.  We were offered a variety of sea activities from underwater walking to banana boat rides.  We declined and just took it easy.

We were served lunch with the rest of the group and it was OK but nothing special.  Rice, pork, French fries and a cold drink.

There were a handful of vendors trying to sell their wares but they were not pests.  They came by once and left with a smile when I declined.

At about 3 PM it was time to head back.  We took the small boat to the bigger boat and relaxed and listened to some music on the way back.  The boat moved at a snail's pace and there was just enough of a breeze to keep things cool.

We met the small boat and were taken back to Pattaya Beach.  I dropped my smart card off at the photo processing place and showered, changed, picked up the photos and went back to her bar.

I gave her a set of the pictures to show her friends and to keep for herself.  All in all a very nice day that set me back $20 for the trip and another $10 to get her a bathing suit.

10 Things To Do While In Ireland

Ireland has become a secret hide-a-way for vacationers in the past 20 years, and there is plenty to do while in Ireland.  In the early 1990’s, Ireland took an economic turn upwards, and the country began to establish itself with economic success.  Since then immigration has increased from the European countries, Russia, and even Australia and the U.S.  The well-hidden secret of the wealth that Ireland has to offer has begun to slip out.

Today, vacationers and those who just want a quick get-a way for a weekend or so, are coming to Ireland to experience the old town charm mixed with what the thriving metropolis has to offer.  There is something to do for everyone between the ages of 1 and 101, and there’s always more to come back to.

Dublin, with almost 500,000 people, is the capital of Ireland

Belfast, again close to 500,00 is the capital of Northern Ireland.  Both of these huge cities began as shipping ports, through the Irish Sea, way back around 488AD, so they are filled with the charm and character of an old town, while being able to offer you all the comforts of a bustling city.

There are many cultural villages strewn throughout the country that offer experience, culture and very wonderful foods!

Museums, theaters, and sporting events

Plenty of shopping are available as well.  And, it is some of the best that you will do anywhere.

With the mass transit system you and your family can easily reach any destination, or tour the town.  The system itself is a thing to see and experience.

Restaurants and outdoor pubs spring up everywhere so you can always stop into one of these friendly taverns and get refreshment.  Children are welcome almost everywhere and casual attire is accepted.

Of course, if you want to go out to a fine restaurant for dinner, and then go dancing till dawn, there is plenty of nightlife for you as well.

Ireland has the most beautiful beaches of anywhere, and Galway County on Galway Bay is a great place to enjoy some of the surf.  Since Ireland is an island, there are a lot of sandy shores to see, but remember that the summer season is only from June to August, and then a light jacket might be necessary as you walk the shoreline.  The waves, sun and the sand are enticing though, and the kids will just love to just go and have fun! So be certain to make at least one of your days in Ireland a beach day!

Then at the end of the day, what could be better than a fresh seafood dinner prepared specially for you, in any one of the many oceanside restaurants that line the coastal towns.  You could drive from Dublin to Galway City in a matter of a couple of hours, and with the Atlantic ocean on the west side of Ireland, and the Irish Sea bordering the east side, you had better believe that the best in North Atlantic seafood is available for you!

The variety and charm of Ireland makes it the best get-a-way for your whole family, or just for two.  Come and enjoy!

"No! We're Not There Yet!"- Surviving the Family Road Trip

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, travel is increasing every year and it is predicted that even more people will be on the road this year. Traveling with the family can be a great way to spend quality time together but it can also be stressful. Increase your chances of a fun, stress-free and safe vacation by following these simple tips:

Beat boredom with child's play. "Are we there yet?" What is it about these words that go straight to a parent's spine? Keep kids entertained with some great car games that make getting where you're going half the fun. Magnetic board games, portable video games and classics such as the license plate game, "I Spy" and the alphabet game will keep energetic kids in good spirits and actively engaged no matter how long the journey.

Stop smart. When stopping at rest stops, make sure it's just your kids getting back in the car and not the bacteria and germs they pick up in the bathroom. Bring products that keep your family healthy, such as hand sanitizer and Lysol Disinfectant Spray, to kill rest stop germs that can be transferred from the rest room to the surfaces in your car. To prepare for those inevitable spills and "oops" moments, keep paper towels or wet wipes handy.

Eat right. Sure, you can stop at the rest stop for food-along with the thousands of other people on the road. But roadside dining doesn't always offer the healthiest choices. Instead, keep your family's bellies full with snacks that you can eat right in the car, such as trail mix, string cheese, fruit roll-ups, bottles of water, and fruit. These easy, convenient snacks are yummy (for them) and healthy (for you).

Keep everyone happy. Pick a destination that has fun activities for all ages. While it's tempting to head for the place that the kids will love, make sure there's something for mom, dad and grandma to do as well. Some top family vacation spots that offer something for everyone include Orlando, Fla., Anaheim, Calif., Williamsburg, Va., Hershey, Pa. and Yellowstone National Park.

Family vacations can be chaotic but immensely rewarding. And if you keep these tips in mind, you can help ensure safe and happy travels-at least until you get there.

When stopping at rest stops, make sure it's just your kids getting back in the car and not germs they pick up in the bathroom.

Travel Reservation Tips For A Hassle-Free Trip

Start with the basics.  Anyone who wants to enjoy a hassle-free trip has to start with the basic concern of any traveler - how to handle travel reservations.  Here are a number of tips that may help:

Decide on a travel plan - specific destination, how many days, what activities, etc. The attention given to this first step will ensure smooth sailing in making the travel arrangements.

If the destination is a foreign country, make sure all information that would be needed in making reservations are on hand.

Airline Reservations

If booking on online, use a reservation site where ticket prices for all airlines are shown so a comparison can be readily seen.  If booking for more than one person, check also the ticket price for both a single passenger and multiple passengers. Some airlines quote different prices.

If notification of your reservation is done by e-mail, make sure that the ticket price quoted is the same.  Sometimes, some airlines claim the airfare booked earlier is no longer available.

Hotel Reservations

Ask if the rate is a flat rate or per person.  Ask how many beds are in the room and what the size is.  Make sure to finalize a rate before getting off the phone.

Ask about tax rates that would be added.

Will breakfast be included with the price of the room?  What time is it served and what is included.

Are there guarantee and cancellation policies? Most hotels require guarantee for reservation with a credit card.  Will they ask a check deposit?

If this is a standard reservation, make sure there is a confirmation number.

Checklist For Campers

Saturday, 28 March 2015 · Posted in ,

Whether you are a beginning camper or an experienced one, it’s always good to have a list of camping equipment you need to take with you. In fact what I do is have a trunk-like plastic container filled with the non-perishable supplies that I always take camping. This way everything is ready to go. Once a year in the beginning of camping season, I update the items and do a supply check.

Food - It’s a good idea to have easy to prepare food. Make a list before you go of meals you want to prepare and go shopping. You can always check the internet for good camping recipes. Have on hand dry condiments such as salt, pepper, spices, sugar, and powdered cream. Be sure to bring staples such as coffee, bread, potatoes, catsup, mustard, onions, bacon, eggs, and marshmallows. Camping convenience foods you may want to include are granola bars, instant oatmeal packs and peanut butter and jelly for quick eating. Don’t forget something to drink.

Sleeping Equipment - As you are aware, the tent is a very important part of camping. Make sure it is waterproof and has a canopy for rain run off. Include a tarp or ground cloth for under the tent. Make sure the tent is always stored in a dry place to keep it free of mildew. Include sleeping bags to keep you nice and warm and an air mattress to keep you off the ground. Don’t forget the pillows.

Lighting - There is nothing worse than walking around a campsite without light. Bring a lantern either powered by propane or batteries. Include a good heavy duty flashlight and it’s always good to have a spare one. Don’t forget the extra batteries.

Cooking Utensils - Include a frying pan, camp stove with fuel, pot with lid, grill, spatula, coffee pot and tongs.

First Aid Kit - A great ideas is to put together a waterproof container filled with the following supplies that you keep stored with your camping equipment and is always ready to go. Be sure to include Tylenol or other pain reliever, antibiotic cream, antiseptic, band-aids/bandages, tweezers, allergy medicine if needed, sunscreen lotion, bug repellent, antacid tablets and a box of pre-moistened towels such as baby wipes.

Personal Items - Once again it’s a great idea to keep these items stored in a waterproof container for easy accessibility. Include bar of soap, hand sanitizer, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrush, razor and shaving cream, deodorant, comb/brush, makeup bag, washcloth and towels.

Miscellaneous Supplies -
Here are some things that will help make your camping experience a good one.

• Water bottles
• Tools such as hammer, screwdriver and pliers
• Aluminum Foil
• Paper plates, napkins and plastic knives, forks, and spoons.
• Paper towels
• Trash Bags
• Tablecloth
• Charcoal
• Fire starter log
• Matches
• Small shovel
• Duct tape for emergency repairs
• Compass
• Small shovel
• Pocket knife
• Weather radio
• Dishpan, scrub pad and dish soap

Bring along your camping reservation and directions to the campground and your good to go camping. Have fun camping!

Remember, the famous Tower Ballroom has been the perfect partner for more traditional dancing steps for a century.

Blackpool's Winter Gardens gilded exuberance makes it one of the most amazing buildings in the world. As if being Britain's biggest theatre was not enough, it is crammed with bits and pieces from dream palaces of a dozen ages and cultures. The Winter Gardens is partly Tudor England, partly Strauss's Vienna, partly Seville in its golden age, partly ancient Rome. This four acre site also houses the Empress Ballroom and Opera House.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has something for everyone. There are over 145 rides and attractions plus spectacular shows, including the world renowned Hot Ice at the Arena, the famous Mystique cabaret of magic and illusion at the Horseshoe, and the internationally acclaimed Eclipse at the Globe Theatre.

Blackpool is not just a seaside resort; it offers something for all ages. There is always something going on whether you prefer to do or watch. A perfect place to stay, as a base for touring the North West of England or, as a final destination to enjoy all that Blackpool has to offer.

Are You Traveling Overseas With Children?

The airport security officers have to screen everyone, regardless of age (even babies), before they can go through the security checkpoint. They will not ask you to do anything that will separate you from your child or children.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers are specially trained and they understand your concern for your children.  They will approach your children gently and treat them with respect.  If your child becomes uncomfortable or upset, security officers will consult you about the best way to relieve your child's concern.

NEVER leave babies in an infant carrier while it goes through the X-ray machine.

    *      All carry-on baggage, including children's bags and items, must go through the X-ray machine.  Examples include: diaper bags, blankets, and toys.

    *      All child-related equipment that will fit through the X-ray machine must go through the X-ray machine.  Examples include: strollers, umbrella-strollers, baby carriers, car and booster seats, backpacks, and baby slings.

    *      When you arrive at the checkpoint, collapse or fold your child-related equipment.  Secure items that are in the pockets, baskets, or attached to the equipment and place it on the X-ray belt for inspection. Plastic bins are provided to deposit such items.

    *      If any of your child-related equipment does not fit through the X-ray machine, security officers will visually and physically inspect it.

    *      Ask a Security Officer for help gathering your bags and child-related equipment, if you need it.

If your child can walk without your assistance, we recommend that you and your child walk through the metal detector separately.  If you are carrying your child through the metal detector and the alarm sounds, the Security Officer will have to additionally screen both you and your child.

    *      Remove babies and children from their strollers or infant carriers so that the Security Officers can screen them individually.

    * You may not pass the child to another person behind you or in front of you during this process.

    * Do not pass your child to the Security Officer to hold.

    * The Security Officer may ask for your help screening your child

The security personnel are just doing their job keeping the airways safe. Please cooperate and it will make your security screening go much smoother.

Adventures For Rent

· Posted in ,

Are you bored with the humdrum? Rusty with routine? What you need is an adventure.

If you've been dreaming of a getaway or want to join the other 98 million adults in the U.S. who have taken adventure vacations in the last five years, it doesn't have to cost you the price of a motorcycle.

Now you can rent a Harley-Davidson motorcycle alone or as part of a custom adventure vacation package. EagleRider, for example, has helped more than 120,000 adventure-seekers enjoy their dream vacations.

The company offers rentals, self-drive Hotel and Harley Tours, and professionally guided tours through the U.S., Mexico, Spain and France.

Founded in 1992, EagleRider is a leader in the field with franchises worldwide, including rental offices and as part of in-store dealerships. In fact, EagleRider expects to expand with 100 more rental and tour outlets within the next three years in major cities and at tourist sites such as national parks and historic trails.

The company recently opened a 22,000-square-foot facility in Denver, where motorcyclists can get help with hotel accommodations, complimentary airport limo service, tickets to sporting events and area attractions, maps, itinerary planning and more.

Historically, Harley-Davidson and other motorcycle manufacturers have focused exclusively on sales, but these firms are expanding their thinking to embrace motorcycle rentals as well.

Not only do the rentals themselves increase revenues, but, according to Harley-Davidson, 32 percent of the company's motorcycle rentals have led to sales or orders within one year. These rentals, coupled with travel services, can benefit both rental facilities and their clients and are the fastest-growing segment of the travel industry.

7 Good Reasons For Travel Insurance

· Posted in ,

For thousands of years, risks have been shared during times of tragedy. The first formal insurance company, Lloyd's of London, was formed in 1769 and their principal concept remains today - to gather the premiums of clients as a pool of resources to return to clients who experience unexpected but covered events. So, that is the secret really, plan for the unexpected and make sure you're covered, especially when you're travelling. Whether your trip is a quick one or a round the world cruise, there are many good reasons for travel insurance. Here are just 7:

Medical Emergencies: If you fall sick or are injured during your travel, your travel insurance will give you financial coverage.

Flight Cancellations: If your flight is cancelled or delayed then your travel insurance should help. Depending on the cover available, a room for the night and even alternative travel home can be included.

Pre-existing Medical Conditions: Even if you have a pre-existing medical condition and it flares up while you're on vacation, as long as you've advised your travel insurance company prior, you should be covered.
Damage or Loss Of Personal property - What are you going to do when your luggage gets stolen? Yes, it happens, all the time. There are organised gangs that work in airports doing just that. Guess what? You need travel insurance.
Loss of Cash or Traveller's Cheques - You're in a foreign country far from home. You either lose, or have stolen, your entire holiday fund. You're going to need help and quick. Again, travel insurance is a must.
Emergency Evacuations - What with global warming and economic pressure more and more holiday destinations are being built in potentially dangerous territory. Who would have wanted to be in Thailand on that Boxing Day? Travel insurance will help if you have to get out quick.
Car Crash - It can be very difficult driving on the wrong side of the road in a strange country. Accidents happen.

Okay, there you have it. 7 good and solid reasons why you need travel insurance the next trip you make. The other alternative of course is to not take out travel insurance, or to stay at home. Now, there's an idea. But seriously, as always when taking out insurance, especially travel insurance, read the fine print. Importantly, find out before you go what is excluded, not just included. So, always read the fine print. For example, accidental coverage is not provided in case of drunken driving, driving under the influence of narcotic substances etc. Exclusions are also provided for accidents during risky sports like bungee jumping, car racing, scuba diving, white water rafting, flying (except as passenger in regular airliners), gliding, skiing, bike racing, diving, mountaineering, windsurfing etc. The list goes on (insert for your favourite potentially dangerous sport here). That means in case of accidents in these situations the insurance company is not liable to pay any amount to the insured.

Your Next Family Vacation – Planning Tips

· Posted in ,

There are many details to consider when planning a family vacation.  Whether your family includes two or ten people, you will, no doubt, be presented with the challenge of including sights and activities that appeal to all in your group.  This can become especially important if you will be traveling with children, since it is likely they will not wish to take part in all the activities that interest you.  Nevertheless, there are ways to plan your vacation that can make it memorable while appeasing everyone in the process.

One of the most difficult aspects of planning a family vacation is finding a time that will suit everyone.  This means having to juggle work and school schedules, and figuring out how to optimize the time you will have in a way that will meet the needs of everyone.  Because it is very likely that every individual in your group has different schedules, and likewise, different interests, you’ll need to plan as far in advance as you possibly can.  The key here is knowing what everyone enjoys and planning it with the resources you have at your disposal.

Figure your expenses.  The first step to planning a family vacation is to figure out how much money you will be able to spend.  Knowing this will help you narrow your options.  This is especially important if you do not travel to the same destination every year or for every vacation.

Optimize your costs.  Just because you have a certain amount of money you can spend doesn’t mean you have to spend it.  Instead, save where you can.  This can also help you plan for the next vacation by leaving with money left over when you return or, in some cases, before you ever begin.

The second step to planning your next family vacation is exploring your options.  You will probably want to base this on the interests of everyone in the group, so as to optimize the experience and try to complete as many of the activities as possible.  This can be difficult if you will be traveling to a new location, or if the age range of your family varies widely.  Still, a well-constructed plan can definitely reduce the stress of planning, so keep this in mind while you are making all the important decisions.

Plan each day of your vacation, but at the same time, be prepared to make changes.  This is important because you or other family members may decide to do something else instead of the planned activity.  Also, some activities are done outdoors, so you will want to plan for various weather conditions that could occur.  This s also why you should have a back up plan or at the very least, alternate activities.  The more you are able to plan, the less stress you will encounter, which will bring you optimal fun on your next family vacation.

A Guide To Caribbean Cruises

· Posted in ,

Planning to go on a Caribbean cruise? You need to decide two things in advance – when you’re going and where. Read on for useful information to help you make those choices.

Many people say that the Caribbean islands are best enjoyed during summer, but keep in mind that Caribbean cruises during this time are usually jam packed. This is when families, tour groups, and even corporate assemblies prefer to visit the islands, so if you’re planning to join the pack, be sure to book your cruise in advance. The average cruise length is about seven days.

If you want to enjoy big discounts, though, then try Caribbean cruises during the fall. Rates are substantially lower (sometimes half the regular rate), and you usually don’t need to wait in line for slots to free up.

When deciding between Eastern or Western Caribbean, your decision should depend on what you intend to do during the course of the cruise. As a general guide, you should go for a Western Caribbean cruise if you want to spend more time sailing (rather than going on land for other activities). Western Caribbean cruises start in either in New Orleans, Texas, or Florida, and then make their way to Palaya del Carmen in Mexico, the Caymans, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica, among many other destinations. There are many things to do in a Western Caribbean cruise, and toping the crowd favorite are tours of the Mayan ruins.

If you want to do more shopping, though, then you might enjoy an Eastern Caribbean cruise better.  This way, you get to see the shopping spots and fantastic beaches of the Bahamas and Puerto Rico (among others).

If you can’t decide, it might be a good idea to buy guide books to Caribbean cruises. Many books offer you great advice on the itinerary and the cruise ship to tally with your goals and interests.

Your Guide To Planning A Family Vacation

· Posted in ,

Planning a family vacation can be difficult, but it's a great way to get the family on the same page, looking forward to an enjoyable vacation together.  Family vacations are a great time to bond with the family and forge memorable experiences.  The key to a successful family vacation is in the planning.  Here are some tips for planning your family vacation.

First, start planning your family vacation well in advance of the actual trip.  This can be a fun and exciting process, as you talk about possible destinations, methods of travel, and activities once you get there.  Visit travel agents together and gather information from agents and over the Internet.  Planning in advance will give you a better opportunity to find good deals by booking ahead.

Second, keep cool.  Planning a family vacation should be fun in and of itself, not to mention the fun you will have on your vacation.  Don't turn this into a family fight, or dark cloud will loom over the whole vacation planning process, and maybe the vacation itself.  If your family is grumpy or uninterested save your planning for a time when everyone feels better.

Third, let everyone have some input.  Even the youngest children should get to have a say in the planning process.  Planning a family vacation should be something everyone can be involved in.  Not only will that be more enjoyable for them, but they will be less apt to blame you if things go wrong on the vacation, since they had a hand in the planning process.

Fourth, choose a family-friendly location.  As you are considering different vacation spots, keep in mind that different members of the family have different interests and needs.  Try to find someplace that will have something for everyone, even if they are not 100% entertained around the clock.

If you have smaller children, there are great resorts that offer kids programs that will keep your children entertained for an hour or all day.  Similarly, resorts that have activities geared towards older children or teenagers can be fun if your children fall into those age brackets.  Does your family have a common interest?  If you like hiking, skiing, or snorkeling, consider someplace where you can participate together in those activities.

Finally, ask your travel agent about package deals, promotions for traveling at certain times of the year, or discounts for families with children.  Not all package deal discounts get published on the agent's website, so it pays to ask in person.  You can often find good deals if you are flexible about when and where you go, so be sure to keep an open mind.

Planning a family vacatio
n is part of the enjoyment of the vacation itself.  It builds excitement and anticipation, allowing you and your children to dream about the great time you're going to have.  Even more importantly, a well-planned vacation is going to go more smoothly and be more enjoyable than one that was largely unplanned.  Keep in mind everyone's expectations and the activities they enjoy, and you'll be better able to find a vacation destination or package that makes everyone happy.

Cheap Backpacks

Friday, 27 March 2015 · Posted in ,

Cheap backpacks can be made, but I don't recommend it. Unless you are extremely skilled at sewing, it isn't likely to come out like you want. Also, even if you are an expert, it will probably take less of your time to pick up an extra day at work and buy a pack with the earnings.

On the other hand, if you have an old backpack frame, you can make a cheap backpack with it. Remove the old pack, and tie a plain nylon duffel bag to it firmly, with the zipper facing out. Small bungee cords will work for attaching it too. I did this using an old aluminum frame that still had straps and a waist belt, and for the cost of a $15 duffel bag, I had an external-frame backpack that not only held a lot, but weighed just two pounds.

Buying Cheap Backpacks

There are several ways to buy cheap backpacks. The most obvious is to just wait for a good sale. A quicker way is to shop for a used pack online. Try Ebay.com, or go to a backpacking or other outdoor forum that allows people to sell their gear, like whiteblaze.net. The forums are nice, because you can easily ask questions about the pack.

You can also buy used backpacks cheap at rummage sales. Watch the ads for any mention of outdoor gear, and call to see if they have a backpack you might want. You may be able to buy it before the sale starts. Otherwise, start shopping early, and negotiate a bit. I recently sold a beautiful Kelty frame-pack for $15 at a garage sale.

Thrift stores sometimes have cheap backpacks. More often they have day packs, but you never know. I have seen big old frame packs that were rough at thrift shops, and it occurred to me that for a few dollars I could just toss the pack, and use the frame with a duffel bag, as described above.

Another way to keep the cost down is to go light. The lightweight backpacks, unlike other lightweight gear, are always cheaper than the big packs. If you have been thinking about lightening the load, you can save money too. Ultralight backpacks are usually under two pounds and frame-less. You'll probably use a sleeping pad as a "frame" of sorts. The good news is that they are often on sale for under $100.

Go-Lite has several packs that are near $100, and sometimes on sale for less than that. The list price on the Granite Gear Virga Ultra Light Packer may still be under $100, and I have seen it on sale for under $80. It also weighs only 21 ounces, a bonus for me, as I like the idea of light and cheap backpacks.

Travel Right When Vacationing In Mexico

Vacationing in exotic locations all over the world can be enjoyable, but the best way to guarantee that you get the most out of your vacation is to plan properly and to make sure that you bring everything you need and are prepared for a number of situations. Are you planning a vacation to Mexico? Here are five things that you need to keep in mind to guarantee that your vacation is enjoyable and safe.

1. Choose a list of the destinations that interest you beforehand, so that you can plan accordingly. Once you have planned out your ideal destinations, you can map them out for the efficiency of your trip. If you do some planning beforehand, you will be better prepared to enjoy your vacation from beginning to end.

2. Do your research beforehand. There's enough information on the internet that you can get any of the resources and answers that you need to plan a great vacation to Mexico. Plan ahead in order to decide how you will travel, where you will stay, how you will get around within the country, where you will eat, and what attractions you will visit during your vacation. Your vacation does not have to follow a strict regimen, but if you are prepared, you can worry less during your vacation when you should be enjoying yourself.

3. Pack as early as you can. Before you take off on your vacation, you should plan what you are bringing with you. Unless there is laundry service, you should plan to have a set of clothing for each day that you will be on vacation. There are three main things that you need to plan for when packing: Clothing, valuable legal documents like your passport, and any medicines that you need. By packing ahead of time, you can make sure that you do not leave anything out at the last minute.

4. Plan for emergencies. There is a good chance your cell phone isn't going to work in Mexico, and even if it does, can you imagine the roaming charges? One of the best ways that you can prepare yourself for emergencies, as well as keep in touch with your family and friends, is to pack a phone card. www.iTravelKit.com offers great deals on phone cards for travelers. The call charges in Mexico are expensive, and packing a good phone card will ensure that if you need to make a call, you can, no matter how much it costs to do so in Mexico, or any one of 100+ other countries supported by the card. Their card works on Telmax payphones, as well. You may not want to think about the possibility of emergencies occurring, but it is still vital that you travel prepared.

5. Plan to bring back souvenirs. If you want to bring anything back from your vacation trip to Mexico, you need to make sure you've packed to accommodate any souvenirs that you may want to bring home. Do not pack your bags too full of stuff, but rather make sure that at least one piece of carry-on luggage has space for smaller souvenirs, and that there is some space in larger luggage to accommodate larger souvenir items.

Travel Over Fifty

Aging Baby Boomers tend to travel differently and I would say somewhat smarter.  We look for conveniences that pamper us on our long  or short journeys.

We are shoppers when it comes to travel.  We like a short flight, the best seat at the lowest fare.  Personally I pay a little extra for the quickest flights with the shortest layovers.  We can travel off season  as we are not typically restricted to children’s school vacations unless of course you travel with your grandchildren.  Off season usually gets us bigger and  better accommodations for longer periods of time for less money.

Hopefully, we no longer over pack.  We find the lightest weight luggage for the best price.  If we travel often, we learn that heavy luggage only leads to backaches and more chiropractic visits than we care to admit.  We no longer pack heavy carry on luggage or pretty bags that weigh a ton.  We opt for good looking and practical.   Everything gets lighter as we tend to have to get our stiff bodies from terminal to terminal and if we lug stuff with us, we always swear we will never do it again.  It takes us a few times to get this.  If we have anything at all with us, it has wheels or fits in an appropriate looking back pack.

The travel clothes available for us middle age folks has improved tremendously over the years.  I personally like one company’s travel collection.  It allows me a great up to date look all the time.  Wash, dry and roll it up and I’m on my way.  Most areas or places have accommodations for laundry and a load here or there while having breakfast  or watching  a movie works right into the schedule (most of the time).  Comfortable shoes are a must also.  No more walking long distances in heels.  The agony isn’t worth it.  How pretty can you look when you’re dragging yourself along with an agonizing look on your face.  I  have invested  in correctly proportioned great fashion savvy  looking walking shoes and it was worth the money and I‘m much better looking with a smile and straighter posture.  If I can put tires on my car, I can put expensive, good looking shoes on my feet. I consider it a necessary travel expense.

We tend to want rooms with a view.  We like to take our time and enjoy our surroundings.  Personally, I love a lanai where I can sit and sip a glass of good wine and indulge in reading an  awesome mystery.  I enjoy the ability to sit outside in wonderful weather and write articles like this.  I prefer the comforts of home away from home.  We aging baby boomers tend to pick scenery, fabulous dining experiences, delectable wine and some of us, golf courses that create an ambiance of sport and visual delight.
We all have our dreams of travel. We all have something we enjoy.  How many of you are creating them as your reality?  Are you making any of them happen or are you waiting to retire?  I vote on these experiences now in my life.  How about you?

Booking Travel Online - 5 Tips You Must Know

Booking travel online is big business these days and on the plus side puts a lot of power in the hands of the consumer to reserve their own travel arrangements.  But it’s critical you know 5 things to get the best deal and discount available. So before you begin your travel research and booking online start here.

ALL TRAVEL WEB SITES ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL

When booking travel online they’re two types you can use: the traditional travel web sites such as Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity, and what are being called these days Travel Search Engines, which include SideStep and Kayak.

The main difference is in the search capability. A travel web site like Orbitz only searches its own database of available flights, hotel rooms, and car rentals. So the search is restrictive. But you’ll get more search features and booking travel services offered at these sites.

At travel search engines such as SideStep, the results will include selections from airline sites, travel web sites, and other databases containing flight, room and car rental availability. The drawback is a more "spartan" search capability, and you won’t get many of cool features you’ll find at a travel web site.

IT REALLY DOES PAY TO COMPARE AS MANY AND AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN

If you want the cheapest fare or room, always check out multiple sites before booking travel online. Many travel web sites negotiate and purchase large blocks of fares and rooms directly from airlines and hotels, and then pass the savings onto consumers. But because the reduction varies between sites, the quoted rate for the same seat on a flight, or room in a hotel, can vary dramatically... and many times from day-to-day. So it not only pays to check and compare other sites, but if you’ve the time, to do it often.

TRAVEL WEB SITES DON’T ALWAYS GET THE BEST DEAL

Because of the competitiveness of the travel industry these days here’s another worthwhile step to take before you press that "submit" button at your chosen online booking site... hop over for a final check at the airline, hotel, or car rental company web site for any special offers or lower rates you may get if you book directly. Sometimes the best deals are reserved for their own online customers or preferred clients, and you’ll even avoid fees.

BEWARE OF TRAVEL WEB SITE SERVICE AND TRANSFER FEES

Booking travel online at travel web sites usually involves a service fee. In most instances it’s not outrageous and is usually around $5 per ticket or booking.  Recently, I’ve seen some fees nudging up around $20 and there’s no need to pay that much. But the fees to be aware of are transfer fees when you change itinerary or cancel. It can cost you $100 or more to change after you’ve booked a flight. And if you want a refund, then it can be very frustrating, as you’ll likely spend hours on the phone to get to somebody who can authorize it.

The travel search engines make money from paid advertising and a referral fee from the airlines or hotels, so usually you don’t pay a fee when using them to book. But this is changing so always check for fee disclosure before booking.

Generally, the fees should never be hidden from you, but in a rush to book you may easily overlook a charge that wasn’t obvious before. The profit margins for online travel sites are low, and they can be very creative in their fee structure if you don’t pay close attention.

THE HIDDEN LINK THAT CAN SAVE YOU MONEY

Many of the travel web sites have a link on their page that allows you to become part of their affiliate program for no cost. It’s usually at the bottom and not obvious. By becoming an affiliate you can earn a small commission for everybody you refer to them that purchases a ticket, reserves a room, or rents a car.

But before you rush out and quit your day job and set yourself up as a home-based travel agent, be aware you’ll have to send thousands of people to make any decent money. But there’s an even better reason to become an affiliate. As an affiliate most sites will allow you to purchase your own tickets and still get paid the commission. It’s effectively a discount. Be sure to check the fine print on the agreement just so you’re familiar with the restrictions if any, and how they’ll pay you. But if you do a lot of booking travel online then check it out to see if it’ll work for you.

The travel industry continues to adjust to the advantages of the Internet.  Billions of dollars have been invested in online travel booking systems, and new players continue to enter the market every year. Armed with these tips you’ll be better prepared to navigate through the maze to the very best deal for you. And there’s still that travel agent in the mall if you just can’t be bothered with the whole game of booking travel online.

A Great Vacation In Benidorm, Spain

· Posted in ,

Before you plan your next vacation in Europe, consider a vacation in Benidorm, Spain. This beautiful town is located in the Costa Blanca, north of Alicante, with its large international airport, and just south of Altea. A short drive from Benidorm will take you to many of the attractions of the cities of the Costa Blanca such as Calpe, Javea and Denia.  The large city of Alicante is nearby and offers many attractions and conveniences.  But Benidorm itself has lots to offer the vacationer.  There are many vacation apartments in the town's high rise buildings, and they are a stone's throw from the beaches. With the Costa Blanca's wonderful climate, this adds up to a perfect vacation.

In addition to the wonderful beach life, Benidorm offers vacation visitors fabulous nightlife. There are at least thirty discos or dance clubs, and hundreds of restaurants, all within steps of the beaches.  Spend a day in the sun, then eat a fabulous meal, then dance till the wee hours, then start all over again the next day. What a perfect vacation!

But for those who want to see some interesting architecture while they are are on vacation, Benidorm has a lot to offer them as well. There are many cultural attractions in Benidorm.  The old city, or Casco Antiguo, has beautiful historic buildings all along the old avenues of San Lorenzo, San Vicente and Santa Fez.

Another great attraction in the Benidorm region is the golfing. The entire Alicante region around Benidorm has lots of golf courses for the visitor to enjoy. Some of the most popular are the Bonalba Golf Bulb, Mutxamel, the Alicante Golf Club, San Jan beach and the Bosque Golf and Country Club, Chiva. This is just a sampling of the wonderful golf activity available, since there are dozens of golf clubs in the region.

Benidorm also offers theme parks for those on family vacations. The three largest are the Terra Mitica, Mundomar and Aqualandia.

But despite all of these attractions, beach going remains the main attraction of Benidorm.  The beaches are beautiful and the climate is warm especially in the summer. Nearby mountains form a barrier from the harsh winds from the north, giving Benidorm perfect beach days, summer or winter. The main beaches in Benidorm are Playa de Poninete and Playa de Levante. The sandy beaches stretch out for miles and miles under the glorious Spanish sun. Each of the beaches has its own personality, but if you like a little quieter atmosphere, Playa de Levante is the more serene.

5 Tips For Affiliates Programs Newbies

Thursday, 26 March 2015 · Posted in ,

Affiliate program is the starting place for a big majority of home entrepreneurs and beginners in Internet Marketing, because of the small amount of work involved. There is some elements that you must absolutely look for before you start promoting an affiliate product...

Tip #1. Promote a unique product  to get better results.

Promoting a product which is already being sold by hundreds or affiliates will not give you the same results as if you have a unique proposition. A different product that only some affiliates distribute. That  kind of program is a little bit difficult to find because it is not in the interest of the merchant to do so in the short term.

Tip #2. Powerful and effective affiliates tools.

When you are ready to promote, you may be lost if you are new to affiliates marketing. Actually, most of the beginners take months to make their first sale, because the merchant doesn't help them in their hard work. So be sure to find a powerful and clear affiliates resource section. That will skyrocket your chances of success. Also, a good communication with the merchant is hard to find, but it is a must. Try to find these resources, or some of them.

Tip #3. Example of effective resources:

* Brandable ebooks to give away or sell at a little price with your own affiliate ID links to generate leads... and sales.
* Sales letters provided.
* Templates of the emails to send to your list(s), pre-writen email or even better.
* Free promotional tips provided, to make money without spending thousands in the beginning (a must for beginners)
* Advices and tips for paid promotional techniques (don't loose all your money in something that don't bring results).
* Redirect links through your own website. For example: www.yoursite.com/theaffiliatesite/
* Banners

Tip #4. Good Tracking software.

It is a very important part. You must be able to monitor almost everything in your resources section:
you must be able to track your sales, how many visitors came to your site and to the merchant site, by which page they enter to the merchant site (here is the importance of the redirect links). You must be able to view your payment history, and also how many people signed up underneath you if it is a two tiers affiliate program.

Tip #5. Cookies plus IP addresses.

Today, it is a common practice by Internet users to clear their cookies daily or weekly. So if you spend money on PPC or any other paid advertising to get a customer, you do not want to see another affiliate get the commission you should have received. So try to choose an affiliate program with a tracking software which take also the IP address of your future customer. By the way, recurring commissions are a must.

Last but not least, try to find associate programs with generous compensation plan, and give a preference to the two tiers affiliates programs because you will be paid on two levels. Good promotion, and enjoy your affiliate life.

How To Increase Your Site Traffic And Succeed With Your Affiliate Marketing Programs?

As an affiliate, your main objective is to sell the products and services offered by your partner merchants. Unless you can do this, you can never hope to make a significant amount of money with affiliate marketing programs. So how do you boost sales? All things being equal, you will need to increase your site traffic before you can experience more sales. By the law of averages, the more people are aware of the products you are offering, the more products you will sell.

Here are a few tips that can help you boost your site traffic:

1. Optimize for the search engines. The most successful sites on the internet are the most visible ones. Now there are various ways to achieve increased visibility on the internet, but the foremost method is that of search engine optimization. The details are too technical to discuss here, but the purpose of search engine optimization (SEO) is to help your site achieve higher rankings on the search engines. If you have used a search engine, you will notice that any particular keyword search will return thousands, if not millions of results. Most people will not bother to browse through all those results; they will prefer to look into the sites already displayed. Statistically speaking, the sites listed on the first results page will garner the highest amount of traffic, putting those sites in a better position to make money.

2. Joining internet directories. While internet directories are no longer as widely used as search engines, some people do use them. It is important that you do not overlook the potential customers that these directories can bring to your site. To join an internet directory, you will have to submit your site for approval, and you will be categorized accordingly.

3. Provide fresh content. Your site must continually be updated if you expect your visitors to keep coming back. Your site must have useful content, as well as tools that will help your target audience. Make your site as easy to navigate as possible, and be sure that your links work the way that they should. There is nothing that frustrates people more than a “broken” website, and once your site has been labeled as such, chances are slim that many people will want to come back.

4. Build an online community. In other words, build relationships with your potential customers. Make your visitors feel welcome and appreciated, and they are likely to come back. Be interested in solving their problems and they will thank you with their business.
Making your affiliate marketing program work is really not that much different from operating a traditional business. The only way you can keep your customers is to treat them right. The Japanese have a saying: The customer is God. As long as you treat your customers with respect and exert effort in trying to meet their needs, you will find that they will be more than willing to help you with yours.

Affiliate Marketing and Requesting Customer Support

As a webmaster, you are bound to run into problems. Even though you have spent a good amount of time learning the affiliate marketing trade, sooner or later you will run into some challenges that you will need help to resolve. Areas such as e-mail services, affiliate marketing software, and online services are often particularly troublesome.

Unfortunately, getting help is not often easy, even from your web host. But there are ways to make the process simpler for both sides. Here are some questions that you might consider before you call your service provider:

Who are you? This is a common problem. Many people report their problems without providing their personal information, such as their username. Unless the support team knows who you are, how do you expect them to solve your problem?

What is the problem? Be specific. Identify which product or service is not working properly. Keep in mind that you are just one of your web host’s customers. Unless you can pinpoint the problem, chances are pretty slim that you will receive appropriate and timely help.

What software are you using? Your web host’s support team will need information on the software you are using. For instance, they will ask you what type of system you are using in your computer. It is a well-known fact that certain applications do not work well on certain systems. Be sure to give any relevant details about the services or applications that you use.

When did the problem start? Identifying the time you became aware of the problem is important. If you have recently made any changes to your system and the problem appeared soon after, it is quite likely that particular change is the cause. Don’t withhold information from the support team; every bit of knowledge is crucial to identifying the source of difficulty.

What have you tried to fix the problem? If you have attempted to fix the problem yourself, be sure to include an account of your attempts in your report. Letting the support team know what you’ve already done will help them save time, and also make a more accurate diagnosis of what’s wrong.

Have you kept it simple? For security purposes, some support systems do not allow HTML display. To avoid having your e-mail intercepted, it is best to send your messages in plain text format.

Remember to be polite. Keep in mind that the support team is composed of human beings – they certainly will not appreciate if you maltreat them. Never insult them; never use profanity. If you want your problem to be resolved, it is better to hold your peace and act civilly. Despite what you may think, you are just one of their customers - they reserve the right to discontinue their services to you whenever they like.

These pointers will not always get you the speedy service that you deserve, but they can certainly help. Affiliate marketing is a difficult business enough without making enemies. By taking a little time to see things from your support team’s point of view, you can drastically improve the quality of service you get.
